Who we are

Cascade (cascademovies.com and the Cascade iPhone app) is operated by CoDynamics Pty Ltd, ABN 28 135 826 809, Gordon NSW 2072, Australia. Questions about privacy go to lee@codynamics.com.au.

What we collect

Your account. Cascade needs an account. We collect your email address to create it and to send you a one-time sign-in code. We record app activity (for example, which screens are opened and which features are used) so we can see what works and fix what doesn't, and we strip anything that looks like an email address out of it before it is stored. We store your agents, the films you pin, rate or mark, your streaming services and viewing preferences, and your notification settings, so they follow you between devices.

Alerts. If you turn on alerts, we store where to send them: your email address, or, on iPhone, a push-notification token issued by Apple.

Friends and invites. If you invite someone or share a film, we store the name and the email address or mobile number you give us for that person, and send them the invite you asked us to send. On iPhone you can choose a contact to fill this in; Cascade receives only the contact you pick, never your address book.

Messages to us. If you contact us or send feedback from the app, we keep what you send, including any file you attach.

What we use it for

To run Cascade: keep your agents, find films for you, send the alerts and invites you ask for, answer your messages, and understand how the app is used so we can improve it. We do not sell your information, show you third-party advertising, or use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

Who helps us run it

We use a small number of service providers, who process information only to provide their service to us: Supabase (accounts and database), Resend and Amazon SES (sending email), Apple (push notifications on iPhone), Cloudflare and GitHub (hosting and scheduled jobs). Their servers may be outside Australia. Film information comes from The Movie Database (TMDB), Watchmode and other film data sources; we do not send them your personal information.

Your choices

You can turn alerts off at any time in the app. You can delete your account in the app (Menu → Account → Delete account); this deletes your account and the information stored with it. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing lee@codynamics.com.au.

Children

Cascade is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and its date.
